Throughout June, the Cooperativa de Trabajadores Bananeros del Sur, COOPETRABASUR, granted a series of help to its collaborators and to the community in general.
Union workers at the packaging plant at Finca Caimito received a water cooler and sound equipment as a means of improving the work environment at this place.
This grant benefitted 45 packaging plant workers, cost 250 dollars and was achieved through the socio-environmental improvement program Programa de Mejoramiento Socio Ambiental, PROMESA. |

The union also contributed with a purchase of 3 first aid kits and its necessary medical supplies. These kits were given to the Methodist Church and Finca Tamarindo School.
The kits included medical supplies to assist in first aid situations, such as gauze, band-aids, rubbing alcohol, anti-bacterial soap and other medication to help with general and basic needs.
In regards to the church, it received a kit which intends to benefit the 300 members of this congregation who are all mostly Coopetrabasur employees. |

The school got two first aid kits to be placed in each of the institution’s classrooms for the benefit of the educational center’s students.
Finca Tamarindo School also received two wall-mounted fans to help create a better learning environment for these students.
With the above-mentioned grant, the educational center now has 3 fans in each of the 2 classrooms, which were donated completely due to the Fair Trade funds. |
