COOPETRABASUR counts with a Program of Socio - Environmental Improvement known by its spanish abbreviations as PROMESA (promise). Its implementation occurs in answer to a series of recommendations turned by the Fairtrade Labelling International Organizations: FLO.
Promise is a program structured according to the norms of Fair Commerce and has as objective the administration of the resources that the cooperative receives for distributing its products under this modality.
At the present, COOPETRABASUR bets to this model of transference of benefits, which is applied with success verified in friend organizations located in Ghana and Ecuador.
In this way it is desired to fulfill the principles of Fair Commerce that look for the human development, the improvement of the life and work conditions, socioeconomic development of the organization and its members; as well as the transference of clean technologies. |

Currently, the 7 people who integrate the consultative committee of PROMISE are the ones in charge of guarding the good performance of the program. Among them there are representatives of all the organizational sectors of Coopetrabasur and Coopesersur.
Results
The program supports the development of projects of environmental and social nature. Between its results they emphasize the reparation of workers’ houses, black water management, improvement of systems of potable water, gathering and treatment of the trash, reparation of bridges and roads, infrastructure investment for education, scholarships, attention of communitarian green areas, training of workers and members of the cooperatives as well as improvement of the quality and promotion of recreational activities among others. |
